In 1950, with the entry into force of Chambers Law No. 5590, chambers were given the status of "public institution." For the first time, the term "industrialist" was defined, and industrialists were permitted to establish separate chambers. After completing the legal procedures, our Chamber began operating under the title of Izmir Chamber of Industry on December 1, 1951. On October 19, 1953, the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Economy and Trade made a decision numbered 4/13717 to establish a Regional Chamber of Industry. Thus, the Izmir Chamber of Industry transformed into the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO) in 1954, becoming the first and only regional chamber of industry in Turkey.
